Violin Concerto/Romance

There are a great many recordings of Beethoven's unique and beloved Violin Concerto in the present-day CD catalogues (not very many of them coupled with the equally popular two Violin Romances, by the way...), but this one is special because of the inclusion of the long and immensely interesting cadenza in the first movement, written by Alfred Schnittke especially for Mark Lubotsky., the great Russian violinist who is equally famous for his Beethoven interpretation as for his Schnittke performances. The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra is one of the major orchestras of Eastern Europe, conducted here by its chief-conductor Arvo Volmer who has led all the great Russian and Scandinavian orchestras with great success.
