As GLO 5032, this Sweelinck program has always been one of the most successful CDs in the Globe catalogue. After its deletion last year, orders for it kept coming in, so we have now re-released it in the 6000 series in new digital transfers and with a very much improved, in our opinion highly attractive, new cover. There are only very few CDs in the current catalogues devoted completely to Sweelinck's keyboard works and even fewer (if none) that combine performances of his works on two different harpsichords and organ. When one adds to this the great reputation of Anneke Uittenbosch as the specialist for this repertoire, we cannot help but feel that this is another winner!
Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck is seen as one of the most important Dutch composers during the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque era. Sweelinck wrote more than 70 compositions for keyboard instrument, among which were toccatas, fantasies and variations on sacred and secular melodies. Sweelinck composed these works in a combination of the Spanish organ style, the virtuoso style of the English Virginalists and the style of the style of the Italian masters, creating his own technique which was characterised by clarity, wittiness and moderation.

Only few albums are completely dedicated to Sweelinck's keyboard music. Performed by the amazing Anneke Uittenbosch, this album will be an absolute pleasure to the ear!
