Beethoven: Piano Concertos Nos.1 & 2

Pianist, Felicja Blumental is joined by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Robert Wagner to perform Beethoven’s popular Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major, Op. 37 and No. 4 in G major, Op. 58.

Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, Op. 15, from its introduction, clearly demonstrates Beethoven as a more confident composer at work. As with the Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat major, Op. 19, its primary use was as a vehicle for the young lion of the keyboard to demonstrate both virtuosity as a keyboard player and talent as a composer.
