- French composer Joseph Bodin de Boismortier was one or the most famous and successful composers or his time - between 1724 and 1747 he published 102 works in Paris, which also made him one or the richest composers. He was also significant as an innovator and the first French composer to write a solo concerto for any instrument.

- Although largely forgotten through the inlluences of the 19th century, Boismortier is now being re-discovered as an important composer from the 18th century with inventive and poetic works of which this program gives a thrilling example.

- This is the world-premiere recording of the six Sonatas Op. 34, recorded from the original manuscript and 18th century editions.

- The continuo parts are extremely varied with combinations of harpsichord/gamba, harpsichord/bassoon, chamber organ/cello and chamber organ/bassoon.

- The members of La Fontegara also pursue individual solo careers like Peter Holtslag who has made recordings for Hyperion with Vivaldi recorder concertos, for which he was singled out by The Gramophone as 'a new recorder virtuoso with more imagination than some'.

La Fontegara Amsterdam was founded in 1979 and ever since the group's formation it has worked on and succeeded in developing a very Individual and original style of performance, presentation and programming. The three members of La Fontagara - Saskia Coolen, Peter Holtslag and Han Tol - are leaving their marks on the international concert stages as well as in the realm of recorder and early music pedagogy. There is also no increasing number or present-day composers writing new music for La Fontegara.
