Elias Conrad has built a growing discography in ensemble settings, performing with renowned groups such as Verità Baroque, Ensemble Mozaïque, and the Kirchheimer DübenConsort. He also accompanied the celebrated soloist Andreas Scholl on the album De Profundis. This new release marks Conrad’s very first solo album.

Northern Dawn reveals the music of Dieterich Buxtehude (1637–1707) through the intimate voice of the Baroque lute. In his transcriptions of keyboard and instrumental music, Elias Conrad traces a five-part, cantata-like journey of seeking, longing, pleading, hoping, and trusting. Emerging from the darkness of a war-torn century, this programme becomes a quiet, luminous counterpoint to the noise of our own time and casts Dieterich Buxtehude as a radiant light.
