-The album grew directly out of Lamy’s encounter with Kimsooja’s To Breathe: Constellation at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris. The installation’s mirrored architecture inspired themes of suspension, reversed perspective, emptiness, matter and infinity
- Born in New Orleans and based between Luxembourg and Paris, Lamy studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and has built a career across the European and international jazz scenes
- Eight original compositions with a strong artistic narrative. Titles such as A Vertiginous Levitating Space and Building on the Void and the Infinite make the album’s conceptual link between music, architecture and perception immediately visible

With Connecting the Sky to the Earth, guitarist and composer Greg Lamy turns a powerful visual experience into a deeply atmospheric musical journey.

The inspiration for the album came from Kimsooja’s installation To Breathe: Constellation, which Lamy encountered at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris in 2024. A vast mirrored floor transformed the Rotunda, doubling the architecture and creating the sensation that the sky had opened beneath his feet. The experience profoundly altered his perception of space and became an important influence on his artistic thinking.

That sense of altered perspective runs throughout the album. Across eight original compositions, Lamy explores ideas of suspension, emptiness, matter, movement and infinity. Pieces such as A Vertiginous Levitating Space, Pulse and Building on the Void and the Infinite reflect the visual and emotional impressions that shaped the project.

Lamy is joined by Gautier Laurent on bass, Ferenc Nemeth on drums and Tzumo Oláh on piano. Together they create a spacious and expressive quartet sound in which lyrical melodies, rhythmic energy and open interaction constantly meet. Lamy’s distinctive guitar playing sits at the heart of the music, combining clarity, warmth and a strong sense of groove.
